Course DescriptionThe course helps students grasp a solid understanding of Maya (software used to create 3D animation) and the 12 principles of animation. Students will start with a brief history of animation before learning the basics of Maya. This provides the animation tools to learn the foundation of animation using a technique called the bouncing ball. The course will then move onto learning the basics of animating a character rig, and how to approach starting any animation.
PathwaysThe number of jobs available in animation is increasing at an above average rate, as it becomes more widely used in film, advertising, television and games. Students studying this field are also ideally placed to find work post-school in various non-entertainment industries (eg. medical, defense, training).
Entry RequirementsThe course is designed for beginners. The ability to use a computer is fundamental to this course.

There will be a final presentation night at the end of the course and two high achieving students will be selected to work shadow with a Rising Sun Pictures artist for three hours in their studios.
